Breaking Out of the Box: St. John Ambulance Corps - Popcorn

Here's an interesting ad that mixes up expectations and conventions.  A Brit ad for St. John Ambulance Corps.   It's a little hard to figure out what's going on initially when you keep seeing the cutaway to a movie theatre, but then it becomes real clear when the theatre goer makes the 'spatial jump'.  What do you think?  Corny, it takes too long to get there? or good stuff?

Nike Rise - LeBron James Commercial

Here's a clever, well produced, big ticket commercial that deals head-on with LeBron James' controversial move this past summer from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat.  It's serious, provocative, entertaining and is peppered with a few wild scenes with Don Johnson of Miami Vice and a piece of big machinery reeking havoc on the parquet of a basketball court.  The 90 second commercial covers a lot of ground, as it helps defend James' less than popular decision to leave $15M on the table, pull the ripcord and head to Miami.   While it's quite a production, it hardly rivals the $110M contract that locked James in for 6 years.

Nowhere Boy: John Lennon Story

Here's a new film about John Lennon's early life pre-Beatles.  Looks like a winner.   Shot in Liverpool, the film stars Aaron Johnson as Lennon and Krstin Scott Thomas.  For those looking for a full on Beatles story, you're not going to find it here.

Windows Phone Intro: Really?

Here's a fun commercial.  Positions the phone nicely in a crowded market.  But it's done in British.
