Kevin Bacon does Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon sure has a good sense of humor about himself.  Even if I can't remember what the commercial is for.... it's great.   Actually it's for Logitech Revue.  Quick plug, and lot's of Kevin for all those Kevin lovers out there.

What a Welcome Home! T-Mobile style.

Now here's my kind of way to be welcomed home.  Nothing but smiles... brought to you by the connection people at T-Mobile.  They managed to sneak that in with their audio logo too.  Not sure that was necessary, but you still leave that commercial with a great big smile.

Super Bowl Rising 2011

Well, she's more than two months away, but there's already a lot of buzz about which advertisers are coming to the party.  Here's Advertising Age's list of Yes, No and Maybes.  Who's buying ad time in Super Bowl XLV.  And just because it would be bad form NOT to include some video in this deweymedia blog post, here are two of my my favorite Super Bowl commercials.

TAC Campaign Against Drunk Driving - 20 Year Montage

Battling drunk driving would seem to be a futile uphill battle.  But here's a montage of great film making that drives hom the message NOT to drink and drive.  It's a montage of 20 years worth of public service announcements created by the Transport Action Commission (Canada) to encourage drinkers not to drive.  Tough stuff and made even harder to watch when coupled with REM's 'Everybody Hurts'.

The Bear - Great storytelling.... no words

How can you not love this 22 year old movie?  The production is shot impeccably by director Jean Jacques Annaud.  It's storytelling at its best - using almost no words.  And the actors?  A cougar and a bear.  Hard to get them to stick to their lines.

PS - What a studly name.... Jean Jacques.  Paul sure sounds boring up against a Jean Jacques.  Maybe I'll change my name for a few days and check it out.
