Some drop dead, spectacular, time lapse video shot by Sheldon Neill and Colin Delehanty for what they call Project Yosemite. As it says on their site, witness Yosemite like "you never have before."
At deweymedia have shot time lapse video, and we have found that the prep work is vital to make sure you know what you are going to get, particularly when it comes to longer shots which might span several hours.
Almost every frame of this video is spectacular. Red Bull hits a home run with Red Bull Gives you Wings. Great DP work, great voice over and fantastic music track. This is pure energy and it comes as no surprise that this commercial comes from Red Bull..... it's the dead on message of Red Bull, pure adrenaline.
Advertising was not the forte of this SB, Super Bowl XLVI. Come to think of it, neither was football. Perhaps it was the half time show, as Madonna put on a dynamic and entertaining show. She still has some magic... no wonder Lady Gaga steals her best stuff from the Madonna playbook.
Anyway, the advertisers made a huge mistake, with nearly 75% of them previewing their ads ahead of time. I think you only preview a SUPER ad. The major ad themes seemed to be threefold: megaproductions, cute animals (monkeys and dogs) and babies. In the baby category the Doritos Slingshot Baby ad (I blogged about this one and the Doritos annual amateur filmmaker contest weeks ago) was the best, while ETRADE's fell flat.
I have two favorites, Dog Track and Fiat. This Fiat ad is surely a play to male fantasies, hey sex still sells and I LOVE that tatoo on the back of the girl's neck. She is 110% meow.
Not sure what Clint Eastwood was doing in that crappy ad for Chrysler at Half Time. For Clint's sake I hope nobody saw it because it sure seemed like he sold out. Must need the dough.
Dog Track for Skechers is just plain funny. Love the ending. For me, this was the best ad of the Super Bowl.
I just couldn't buy into the usual hype this year, despite being a Patriots fan.
Incidentally, my nominee for worst Super Bowl ad of the year? The Seinfeld Acura commercial. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY. What were you thinking Acura? I love your cars and I love Seinfeld (can't stand Leno) but come on now! Get a new agency, ASAP, and stop wasting your money and time on ads that make you want to change the channel! Hate to say this, but I feel like Jerry is past his prime. Still, won't stop me from watching old Seinfeld episodes. This commercial is really easy to track as it goes from bad, to stupid to SO STUPID you want to look for any sharp object to CUT YOUR WRISTS!
This is gorgeous tabletop video and much like the fashion piece for Weight Watchers (the LIPS piece), this is not quick and easy film to shoot... it needs precise lighting, a talented DP and a great stylist to deliver the food at the height of freshness. Lurpak hits paydirt with a new spot from W+K London. Nice music track and great SFX to accenctuate the pacing of a nice 60 second piece. Well done.
Talking animals (my favorite) and animals set to music, this can be great material and funny stuff. It's natural comedy. Doesn't need to be complicated by tricky jokes with long, complicated punch lines.
Bounder. This guy is One Happy Pooch.
The clip below - What Animals Are Really Thinking - is hilarious. The english accents make it even funnier and unexpected.
