Nature, Raw Beauty

Sometimes things happen in nature and you just happen to be in the right place to film it.  It could be a sunset, or a pod of whales rising from the sea or a pack bears swimming in a river.  The film below is one of those instances.  The raw beauty of nature enhanced by some good music.  I could spend hours watching this material... it's pure and simple and spectacular.

A chance encounter and shared moment with one of natures greatest and most fleeting phenomena.

Here's the story that accompanies the clip on the Atlantic Monthly magazine blog site.

Canon C300 Shoots Mobius, Mind Bending Western Short

Here's a mind bending short film called Mobius, directed by Vincent Laforet and shot on the newly reslease Canon EOS C300.  Looks a whole lot more like film than video to me. The new camera package costs less than $20k. For a professional looking film, that's about 1/100th of the cost of most film cameras being used on sets around the U.S.  Pretty good value.

Powerful Video - Nature at Its Finest

Whether or not you are a 'believer' this 6 minute film is a powerful film that's a marvel to watch. Many of the clips within the film were taken from the BBC nature series, a story in itself in film acheivement. The project has at least two names: Creation Calls, I Believe.  The music, a major element in the wonder of this film - big and bold and mighty - was composed by Brian Doerksen.

Top Shooter - Matthew Brown

Great videographers can raise a subject from boring to interesting.  Here's a shooter named Matthew Brown who was stunned by what he found on a visit to Israel.  You can tell by the video.  It's great work.  Nice work of color, texture, and contrast.

Benjamin Eckstein's camaraman's eye is one of our great assets at deweymedia.  He created exciting shots in this piece for Riverdale Country School, making the video fun to watch.  Naturally the editor has a lot to do with the movment and speed of the interplay of the footage, but nothing happens if the videographer doesn't fill the tank with great footage.

Herman Cain Sings His New Blues Hit: 9,9,9 and more from Jimmy Fallon

The presidential race provides fodder for comedians like few other national news events.  Jimmy Fallon's creative writing team has been hard at work lampooning the Republicans.  As the headline shows, my favorite piece is Herman Cain's song, but if you want to see the whole piece, click on the second video.  Funny Stuff.

Short Version - Herman only (with an intro from Fallon).  Don't be fooled by the fact that the pictures are the same.

Long version - All the Candidates
