The Help - Rooting Film

The Help hits theatres this weekend.  It's got a winning formula - strong women, powerful story and a dynamite music track.  We got ourselves a feel good winner, that'll have you rooting for the good guys.  The Help stars Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.  The novel was written by Kathryn Stockett, but, surprisingly, the screenplay was adpated and directed by Tate Taylor who made his bones as a TV series writer: Sordid Lives, Queer as Folk, The Drew Carey Show.  

Partnership for a Drug Free America: Long Way Home

Here's a powerful anti-drug commercial brought to us by the Partnership for a Drug Free America.  It's called Long Way Home  It tells the story of a kid doing his best to avoid the influence of drugs in his neighborhood.  The images are simple.  We see a kid climbing fences and running through alleyways and back stoops in a city.  One shot of the bad guys is all it takes.. with a simple, lonely piano track and a real kid voiceover.  Powerful film.

Crazy stuff in this home video that's gone viral.  Nice sound track and some fun shots to dissect and think about.  Some are easier to figure out than others.  All in all fun idea, and nice track to pump you up for a BIG NIGHT.
